A bit clattery on idle.

This car is an absolute dream to own.

It is black with the mesh grill, lower front and back skirt and the round fog lights.

I learnt to drive in a focus and always wanted one.

The handling of this car never ceases to amaze me. I can throw into corners and it gets round with a shrug of its shoulders. I can almost hear it saying to me "is that it, I can take more than that before I struggle".

The 1800 zetec is responsive, but it is a bit clattery on idle. If anyone has any ideas on what it can be then let me know.

I have heard that it is just the noise the engine makes and other focus's do the same.

The chromed exhaust that ford have put on has made a real difference to the sound. It has given the car a real rorty snarl to the note. It is better than just another thrashy 4 pot.

It isn't however as nice as my old BMW 320i 6 pot.

All in all, the focus is great. I highly recommend one.

I have a 2003 Focus ZX3 with a 2.0 engine and even it clatters while cold or cool. I often think it's a diesel, but it isn't. I hate the way the automatic transmission shifts, but am getting used to it none the less. The car doesn't always like to start and doesn't idle as smooth as it should it also likes to shudder when I come to a stop.

But despite the problems, I really do love my Focus. I have found out that the engine is gutless when you floor it off the line, but if you feed the engine throttle slowly and then start to give it more throttle it really goes.

Since I don't want to have to buy another car for a long time, I try to baby it as best I can. Though it is hard to drive it a bit sporty like it looks.

As other reviews of the 2000 and 2001 models, I am also having trouble getting my key into the ignition. I feel that sometime soon the ignition will lock up on me. I sure hope it won't, but it won't surprise me.

I have just recently purchased a Ford Fous zetec collection and am waiting to get my keys next week. Although I have done quite a bit of research, and have owned Ford's for a number of years now inc. Fiesta Zetec-s and various escorts and mondeo's, it would be appreciated if anyone could give me a little advice on this particular model. It's pretty new and sporty looking with mesh grills and met black paintwork. Any info would be great.
