2000 Ford Focus zx3 from North America - Comments

So far to date would be the gas tank has a leak on the top.

It was brought in to have some work on something and they had to take out the fuel tank.

Now it leaks if I fill it right up. I phoned the dealership and they said to bring it back in and they will take a look at it.

This is a 2 door and the passenger door handle didn't work when I bought it and now today I went to unlock it with the remote and open the driver side door handle and it's just like the passenger door handle.

So almost being late for work I had to open the hatch with the remote and crawl to the front to get the door open.

It opens fine from the inside, but won't open when I lift up the door latch it just stays where I lift it like there is no tension or spring in it.

Very upset about that since my apartment manager watched me crawl in through the back and her friend got it all on video tape oh my.

Also one more item I don't care for is the emergency brake is so loose and my rear brakes don't work like they should this makes it harder on the front brakes which have been locking up now.

Oh one more thing the seats really need to be improved the springs stick through and they feel so cheap.

Other than the above I love this car it handles like it's on skates on icy road conditions and deep snow.

However the dashlights don't light up across the gages.

The shifter is very weak also it feels like it could break off.

Also the door dinger won't stop dinging when I hit bumps.

This car was built up so well.

My brother used to drag race it and it was the fastest four cyllinder on the track, he lowered it and it has a sport sway bar and it cruises just awesome.

He added a carbon fibre hood.

The rear wheels at one point looked like they were at angles guess what they were. I forget what it is called but he couldn't get that fixed for a while so he went through 2 sets of rear tires before he could fix it.

I love the custom stereo system he put in it. But like in other reviews the head unit over heats.

I don't like hatch back door it is junky and sounds like it won't open again after you slam it shut and the hatch door release button inside on the dash won't work sometimes.

Sounds like most of the complaints you have about your zx3 would be due to the abuse your brother gave it, not manufacturing defects.

Except for the problem with the door handles, but maybe he screwed those up too.

It doesn't sound like your Focus is very reliable, but it also sounds like it had a tough past (drag racing).

My concern is wondering if the vehicle safe?

I don't think I'd want my sister driving a vehicle where the rear wheels were so out of line that you can see how they point in different directions. The locks not functioning would concern me too.

If you're going to continue to drive the Focus, I hope you make sure it is safe.
