The only problem is directly related to the brakes making a slight grind (like new brakes do when new rotors are installed without being turned). This is sometimes typical for the first few days... but it took over 3500 miles for the sound to diminish. Is still making it, only when cold, and slowly fades as the car is driven. Other than that... nothing else is wrong.
Ford is aware of this brake issue and they are actually working on ways to correct it. It is due to the new design in the rotors and pads and I even heard from a reliable source that it has a lot to do with the materials used on this particular car. Not that they are bad, it is just different.
After owning 13 different cars of various makes and models (import and domestic) this is exceptional value for the money.
Has superb handling and great ergonomics.
The engine is quite powerful, although it revs awfully high when passing at full open throttle. (I highly recommend the more powerful Zetec... the standard smaller engine just does not have the guts to push the car the way it was designed).
The seating position has been criticized, but I really like the height, being a former truck owner. I find no blind spots on mine.
By the way, I have heard numerous problems with the hatchback and the sedan, yet little problems seem to be reported from the wagon (which I own). Maybe one should look into the wagon (actually looks like a mini-minivan.)
I own a 2000 Focus Wagon. I have been happy with it until it hit 7850 miles and it now has problems wanting to start. It has been in the shop for 51 days straight with the exception of 3 different nights home and not to starting the next morning and being towed back to the shop.
On the first trip in to be repaired, the seat belt locked up and the next day the car started refusing to start. After several hours the car started, we took it in to the dealer and they have had it all this time and the problem still exists. It just starts when it wants. Has anyone else experienced this problem with theirs? If so please write in to help us resolve the problem.
This has happened twice in the past few months with my 2000 Ford Focus. It sat over the weekend. Monday a.m. I try to start it and it clicks. I take my girlfriends car to work. Her brother checks the battery and alternator. It starts.Today is Monday and I went out to start it and after sitting over the weekend, it just clicks. The interior lights and radio work. Will it start later? What is the problem?I need help.
