1996 Ford Galaxy GLX review from UK and Ireland
"Too expensive to keep repairing"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Electronic ignition problems that could not be repaired without hefty costs forces the sale of the car (wildly uneven idling, very uneven running).
Electric windows needed extensive work.
Rear shock absorber completely broke after 20,000 miles.
Nut/bolt holding the engine/exhaust to the chassis became unfastened after 40,000 miles.
Catalytic converter needed replacing at 60,000 miles.
Each line of seats are too close together and easily damaged when removing or folding.
One of the seat securing catches broke after 10,000 miles.
Speaker grills keep cracking and breaking.
Interior mechanism in the roof started rattling at 50,000 miles.
General comments?
Smooth ride on long summer journeys, but dangerous on ice and snow.
Very tacky interior. Everything seems to have been poorly designed so that it falls off whenever the slightest pressure is exerted.
No proper air conditioning on this model making trips to the Alps etc uncomfortable. Also the windows steam up in winter.
