"Great car, but too expensive to maintain for average family"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

ABS sensor replaced.

Motor for driver side electric window replaced

.

Air Flow Meter replaced. (very expensive)

Bottom engine mounting bolt snapped.

Wiring loom feeding rear windscreen brake light snapped and worn.

ABS light is permanently on.

Speaker grills in doors always breaking.

General comments?

Car is great for long journeys with 3 kids.

Very versatile for carrying different loads ie. bikes, camping kit etc.

Very expensive to maintain out of warranty and problems can reoccur.

I purchased my Galaxy TDI Ghia at 3000 miles in 2001, it has been used as an executive private hire vehicle since then.

At 100,000 the clutch failed and the flywheel needed replacing (£900.00) but it has now covered 143,000 miles and the drivers side window has stuck in the up position, I must have had a quality vehicle because considering its use and now the mileage these are the only expenses apart from service and wear and tear I have incurred.
