I had one just like yours, automatic with the dohc engine. it was surprisingly economical for such a big car, ususally 35mpg, but you are quite right, acceleration is SLOW. ford claimed a top speed of 119mph- no. I tried it once and got about 108 before becoming bored with the glacial gathering of momentum. comfy though, a great car for getting the kids to sleep.
