Brakes badly corroded on second service
rust around fuel cap (you know it's a ford!) rust on sills at40K!,coolant leak from injector manifold gasket, spark plug corroded into head-broke off on removal/left butt of plug in head-very costly. air conditioning needed recharge at 35K, on third exhaust already-its got to go.
It looks like a lovely little car, but if we keep it any longer its going to be nothing, but trouble.
I own a 1999 Ford Ka. I must say that I am very dissatisfied with it. Had several mechanical problems. Brake disks keep rusting (pretty much everything is rusting in this car even if the car is in sunny Spain away from the salty roads).Next time will buy a Honda or a Toyota.
If the broken plug cost a packet, you were ripped off. I just had the same thing happen on my Ka (snapped flush with the head), and got the remnants of the plug out, doing no damage to the engine, using only basic tools (magnet, sharp chisel, screwdriver, drill and Plusgas) in a couple of hours.
It is a common fault, and it is annoying, but don't blame the car because a garage saw you coming. Any competent pro mechanic with a proper workshop and tools at their disposal can sort this out in 20 minutes. If you let them get away with charging you any more than an hour's labour, that's your doing.
This is also the only fault on mine in the 2 years I've owned it, and it's now done 110,000 miles.
