1994 Ford Mondeo GLX review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced exhaust mount due to excessive knocking.
Front electric window relay packed up.
Front suspension bush split.
Rear wash on wash/wipe stopped working.
General comments?
Generally I have been impressed with the Mondeo - especially its handling. Get it out on a winding B road and it feels like a rear wheel drive car.
Unfortunately Ford's questionable build quality has let them down. The reliability and running costs are low because we are surely not only talking about whether the car starts on a cold morning and how much petrol you put in? The car was 2 years old when I purchased it from a main dealer (Stormont Ford, Tunbridge Wells, Kent) and in the first year I spent approx £800 getting things fixed, all of which was not covered under the warranty. Not really acceptable for a car that was less than three years old with a far less than average mileage. The dealer was just not interested hearing about the problems I was having. A split suspension bush after 35k miles seems ridiculous to me especially since a full service was performed before delivery. When will I need to replace the other side?
