1994 Ford Mondeo Ghia Estate review from Slovenia

"Very good price to car ratio:)"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Alternator broke, got it renewed for $50.

Sometimes failed to star, it was an electrical error, cost $25 to repair.

The middle console where the hand-rest is had some play, fixed it myself.

Rear stabilizer on the spring, $40.

Power window switch did not work. Fixed it myself with some contact spray.

Steering had too much play.

Minor electrical gremlins.

Thermostat and new coolant, $50.

Warped front brake disks, they can easily warp when overheated, $80.

Rear bumper broken because my brother drove it and he can`t park very good:), $150.

Other than that there were oxygen sensor, oil, exhaust, tires and everything usual with cars.

General comments?

A comfortable and spacious car that you can get for zero money, get one that has been looked well after and you`ll be happy with it.

Feeling of safety in the cabin, full of spaces to put stuff there, ergonomic and good looking interior.

Mine was very well equipped, additional reading lights and lighted lipstick mirrors, even front windshield glass has heating, power seats, excellent air conditioning and a lot more practical gadgets.

Very good handling for a family caravan, engine pulls hard beyond 4000rpm.

Needs extra caution when parking, the rear and front bumpers are made of a fragile plastic that can break easily.

Fuel consumption can vary a lot. For fuel efficiency you need a very light foot, urban driving to 2500rpm and then switching to a higher gear. Optimal speed for highway cruising is around 150-160 kilometers per hour (100 miles per hour), this way it consumes around 8 liters per 100 kilometers, 35mpg if you prefer.

A broken exhaust manifold along with a failing oxygen sensor can make it a gas guzzler.
