The bushes of the front suspension needed replacing for MOT, £40ish by the local independent garage.
A bit tired now it's reached 140000 miles and burns a fair amount of oil.
Yes, yes, I know mondeos are not the most inspiring of vehicles, but if you need to travel 60 miles a day, everyday, on a budget, it's fantastic. Never failed to start, only wear and tear items have needed to be replaced, eg. bushes, oil filter, tyres. It's comfortable to sit in and easy to drive.
Admittedly, it's burning oil at a fair rate and the suspension's going soft, but it still keeps on going.
Can't give any opinion on dealers, but the mondeo enthusiasts group are happy to help out with advice if you have concerns or just want to know more about the car. I have been that impressed with the mondeo as a comfortable, reliable, economical and cheap cruiser that I've bought another one.
As you no longer need the Mondeo Aspen I am very keen to strike a deal to take it off your hands. Even with all of its faults I am willing to give you a Hundred Quid for it mate.
Well this appears to have been very helpful, have been looking for a budget 1.6 for a few weeks, and have just bought an Aspen model for next to nothing. Seems I have found a good deal.
Can anyone tell me what common problems occur on a 1995 (M) 1.6 Aspen, so I can aim off and keep an eye out for them?
I have just been giving a 1.6 N reg mondeo ASPEN for free looks like I have scored my self a nice reliable cheap motor. As the person above has asked what kind of problems should I be looking for? (only dislike I have so far is the colour is red and the sun has started to take its toll. But hey it was free so what do I care)

Hi I recently purchased a Mondeo Aspen 1.6, but it keeps dropping the power and is very sluggish at times. Anyone have any ideas? Also the cat is rattling.
Thanks, James.
