Strange 'knocking' noise coming from rear shock/wheel area.. checked it in with garage under warranty twice and they still can't find out whats wrong?! it's a bit annoying and only happens when going over a bump..anyone any ideas??
the digital clocks on the dash(fuel consumtion and odometer) were flashin on and off...sorted under warranty..
Excellent car overall
there's not many in the Republic of Ireland... so it's a real head turner...
Fantastic economy.. i got 52mpg on a motorway run at about 65 to 70 miles per hour..superb!
I blew one tyre already though after I hit a bad pothole.. the ride is very hard and you feel everything... but overall, well worth it!!
I am the owner of a 130ZETEC S as described. The knocking from the rear shock area as described is driving me crazy. Did the person who drove this car ever get an answer? My Ford garage cannot fix it.
So that's two people with the same fault that the dealers can't be bothered to trace. Sums up my experience of Ford dealers as well. They seem to be trained to lift the bonnet, change the oil, stamp the service book and take £200 off you. Anything else has them stumped!
The rear knocking noise your talking about could be the rear sub frame bushes, ford will quote £400 to fix, but power-flex do up graded bushes for around £75 Hope this helps.

My 1999 ford mondeo verona lets off a strong smell of petrol fumes intermittently, although seems to be associated with long slow hills when the revs are high. My mechanic has plugged it into a computer, but could find no fault. He has also changed the purge valve with no improvement.
The knocking noise is almost definitely rear subframe bushes, very common problem with these cars, I'm amazed the dealer doesn't know this (or am I?)
