2008 Ford Mustang GT review from North America
"Over hyped"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing has gone wrong.
General comments?
I have had this car for about 2 months now. No problems till now. But I seriously feel it is really over hyped and not worth the amount it sells for. Visually the car is and absolute stunner. People look at you when you are in it. It sounds excellent from the outside! garbage from the inside. When you press on gas, you hear more noise, but the car stays there and then suddenly the power comes and you accelerate. Really does not feel like 320 pound foot torque when you get off from a start, but it builds quickly. That is the only difference between this and the V6 mustang. However, the V8 is smoother. V6 is coarse and raucous. As far as the handling is concerned, it is not the best, but not that bad either. It handles curves nicely if you drive it you do everyday, if you try to be fussy with it, it gives it right back to you. But, for me handling has not been an issue till now and I am pleased with what I have in it.
However, I feel that the rear "Constant-Rate Coil Springs, 3-Link Design with Panhard Rod" was essentially a cost cutting measure. Over bumps, it is absolutely rubbish. However, the seats are nice and comfortable which make up for the sub-par rear suspension. Nevertheless, I still think Ford could have made a better suspension.
Stock stereo is OK, has a lot of Bass and less clarity. Controls are nicely laid out. Rear seats are for small adults or children only.
One more thing that I noticed is that it does not seem to have insulation over the area above and near the rear tires. It always is noisy in the back and you feel like there is some window in the back which is left open.
It suffers massive depreciation. If I had to do it all over again I would go for the V6 which was about 8 grand cheaper, or would go for a used BMW. My old used 540 drove way better than this. No comparison at all.
My suggestion to others, don't buy it, for the same price you can get a used BMW/Merc/Audi/lexus or Volkswagen. they drive much better and more comfortable.
