"Awesome pony car. Lot of fun to drive"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Cigarette lighter next the the shifter shorted out. Slight wind noise from loose windshield gasket. Other than that the car is great.

General comments?

This is my second vehicle. The first was a 1986 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck. Comparing the two the mustang is 100 times better. Plenty of power for the V6. Gas mileage is decent (23 average with mostly city driving). I am the 3rd owner of this car. It has 71000 miles on it and runs like new. The previous owners never experienced any problems with the car. It seems to be built very well. The only thing I dislike about the mechanical aspects is the transmission makes a spinning noise when I release the gas in 1st or 2nd gear above 1500 rpm. I love driving it. It handles very well. You can tell it's a sports car because you feel every bump but it is very smooth. The suspension is pretty stiff but handles most bumps with ease. Braking is very good. Pedal feels very firm under my foot and doesn't give any when I stop hard. The emergency brake doesn't lock up the rear tires as well as I would like it to but its not a major issue. I have driven in the rain several times so far and have not hydroplaned once. The car looks amazing to me. I love this body style and the paint looks new with a couple of scratches here and there but it IS 6 years old. I am very happy with it despite the Ford "reputation" of being unreliable. My car makes 3 Fords in my family and all of them run like new. Overall the car is a dream to drive. I would recommend this car to anyone who has the opportunity to buy one.

Pay NO attention to the "Fords are not reliable" myth spread by import fans. They ARE reliable, and have been for DECADES.

Our family has put over 320,000 miles on one Ford with very few (and very inexpensive) repairs. We've owned 4 Mustangs and none has ever had a single break down.

I was at a Mustang show recently where a guy had his 2002 GT up for sale. It looked brand new inside and out. I was shocked when I asked the mileage and was told "Just over 200,000!!

Consumer Reports ran an article in Oct. of 2007 on long-lasting vehicles and the one with the highest mileage with no problems was a FORD!! It had just shy of HALF A MILLION miles.
