Vibration, clanking type noise from the engine at higher speeds and RPM.
I've only had this car for about three months, but I love it. It's just the base model, but has some add-ons like the pony package and the handling package. Performance is pretty good, though I wish the engine was a bit more efficient. It's a 3.8L, but only pumps out about 190hp which is middle of the road.
The car looks great though and definitely will turn heads. It's great value if you are budget conscious yet still want a sporty looking car that has enough power.
Nice review, you're right about the performance/looks for the money. You mentioned that the V6 only puts out 190 hp. While this is true, it also pulls 220 ft-lbs. of torque at a very low rpm. This makes it the most powerful engine by far for entry-level sport coupes.
The 1995-2002 3.8L V6 Camaros and Firebirds Put out 200 HP, 225 lb-ft of torque, had a better transmission, better rear-end, was more aerodynamic and was not prone to head gasket problems like the Ford 3.8L V6, so you tell me who had a better entry level sports car?
I agree with the above review. I'm not a Chevy guy by any means, but the Ford 3.8L V6 is junk! It has way too many problems. You'd be much better off getting the 4.6L V8. More reliable and way more fun!
Cheavy camaro is a rattlebox. As far as effeciency, well lets see, 2001 cobra had 320 hp with a 4.6 motor whereas 2002 ss camaro had 335 with a 5.7 L engine. That's only a 15 horsepower increase with a a signicantly bigger motor, next the camaros had very cheap interiors as written by popular magazines. There's a reason why people buy more mustangs than camaro's and firebird's combined. And as far as being the fastest street car, well hennessey twin turbo viper with 1000hp is the fastest street car in the world. Now please give it a rest. Lastly even celebrities who have millions and millions wanted to get their hands on the 05 mustang, I would love to see any other car with that kind of popularity.
I don't understand why people give praise to a v6-powered firebird and camaro. GM's 3.8L V6 series II engine is plagued with intake manifold leak and headgasket leak, affecting model year from 1995-2003. While ford 3.8L V6 engine's headgasket problem only presented in 95-98 and is covered by warranty!
I owned a car with a GM 3.8 engine, died at the 100,000 mile mark due to a rod knock. My next car was an 99 mustang 3.8, 150,000 miles on it and it still runs strong as ever. Bottom line the GM 3.8 sucks. And I have smoked V6 camaros and trans ams all day long, oh yeah and I am stock. I dont hate GM cars its just that the 3.8 GM motor sucks.
