Purchased in February, brought it to the dealer in March. On-going problem with the e-brake. Has been to the dealer 5 times for this problem. As soon as the weather drops to freezing temperatures, the e-brake freezes up. If I leave the car with the e-brake off, in the morning it is impossible to lift the e-brake handle. If I leave the car with the e-brake engaged, in the morning the brakes cannot be released. Can't move the car. They started with: just wacking the brakes with a hammer and saying "you're all set" to replacing the lever assembly, adjusting brake "reins?", replacing the brake control assembly, replaced both rear brake calipers, replaced brake cables, AND have just replaced rear calipers AGAIN.
Had driver door speaker fail.
I have to say, aside from the e-brake problem, I absolutely LOVE this car. I've had NO other problems, besides trying to drive it in the snow...
I have no complaints about the power or handling. Very fun car to drive. Love the MACH sound system with 6disk changer.
If anyone else has had the same e-brake problem, I'd love to hear your solutions!
We live in a very snowy, cold place in winter.. Northern Utah. Our elevation is about 6,000 feet. I'm a baby-boomer, so love the Mustang's reputation, but am concerned about the possibility of serious e-brake problems, especially since we haven't gone through a winter with our 2002 convertible yet. I've only had e-brake problems a few times, but entirely my own fault. Once my husband explained I had to apply the foot brake first, I had no problem moving the e-brake. This stays in our garage most of the time. We're considering trading for a Jeep Liberty Limited, also fun to drive, but not as fun or with as fun a reputation as a Mustang convertible. Sure better off-road and in snow, though. My practical side is always fighting my fun side. Husband likes both choices and wishes I'd make up my mind. Wish money were not a factor. We'd get both!
I have not had any e-brake trouble. I have 25k of trouble free driving, add a couple of sand bags in the trunk for winter and its not too bad, I really like it,, love the mach stero..
