2002 Ford Mustang GT review from North America
"A great entry level muscle car for those with ready access to cheap gas and plentiful freeways"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
CD player broken - destroyed many cd's had to be replaced.
At 25000 it was starting to run a bit rough despite all service having been performed as needed.
Strange clunck when shifting started at 23000 miles
never did find a position in seat I was 100% happy with.
Getting hard to start at 25000 miles
Didn't bother getting this stuff checked out as I traded it in today for WRX sport wagon (2003)
General comments?
Car is darn fast - never lost to a chevy... lost to other greater mustangs often however!
Most tuners get smoked by the GT
WRX sport wagon I bought today would be a good race, it would honestly come down to driver ability imho... but hey give the GT a turbo and I'm sure it would destroy a little WRX with ease.
I did not like the handling at all, it was OK at high speeds, but my old '87 924 felt more stable over 100 then the GT. Naturally the WRX excels in this area. Main complaint with handling was that it felt big and bulky and kind of floaty like the muscle cars of old... which perhaps is the intent. But I didn't like it, coming from a 924 and then two Wranglers - the fantastic push you back in your seat power was great for drag... but I'm 32 and only occasionally drag on the streets, so the thrill went away pretty quick.
It sounded wonderfull however! I will very much miss the sound of the GT - it's one of my favorite exhaust sounds ever!
Gas mileage for me was very poor, my jeep got better mileage. The two reasons I got rid of it, OK well three - 1) were Gas in city was poor 13 to 16 if you actually drive it like a sports car, which is really the whole point! (on freeway it was quite nice however, it's a high speed car not a good daily driver in my opinion, quite different all around when you get it up there (85+ I noticed a difference)
