Stuck float valve in carb.
Radiator inlet had a crack, very minor.
This car has kept running, despite years of neglect and poor use. All 50k miles that were on the car when I got it were at 25 mph or less, hence the stuck float valve. It has required little mantenance beyond the regular oil changes. With the float valve fixed, I am averaging ~20 MPG, which isn't bad for a 17 year old carbed V6 of it's size (3.8L).
I love my car! And, of course, Mustangs RULE! :0)
I have the '85 LX with 3.8V6/Auto. A really good car. Survived my sons year and a half of driving it and now is my second car. I have an Audi also and usually drive the Mustang just for the fun of it. It has 143K on the odometer and still acts like a new one. Ford cars always have treated me right and this one is no exception.
I also own a 1983, 3.8L ford mustang hatchback. I purchased the car for 50 dollars and had to replace the coil, the ignition module, and the distributor itself. After I finished that this car is outstanding and has been nothing but fun. With 95k miles on it this car still runs the quarter mile in 19.8 seconds. I upgraded mine with a fuel injector setup and a 5-speed manual transmission that greatly improved acceleration, and let me tell you,"All those 5.0L out there watch out there's a new cat in town!" I wish all of you mustang owners out there good luck with your cars and if you see me coming watch out. Peace and love to you all!
