2000 Ford Mustang V6 review from North America
"A Sporty Coupe for the Practical American"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have not experienced any major mechanical problems with the car. However the power-steering belt/pump has a slight whine. I have noticed the same noise in other mustangs of the same model. Cosmetically everything is about average.
General comments?
First let me acknowledge the fact that this is NOT a muscle car, it is a SPORTY COUPE. Its objective is to be sporty, fun to drive, and above all practical. Practicality is what has kept the Mustang around for over 40 years, notice most muscle cars died with time.
The car does everything well and has a classic heritage. Performance is OK, and it is the most power for the dollar. MPG isn't horrible, but the car can get thirsty under spirited driving. Brakes are strong, but ABS is not standard.
The ride can be somewhat noisy and choppy. My 1999 Dodge Avenger has the Mustang beat as far as ride quality, space, and noise levels. Overall the pony is well-balanced and has no problem taking a fast corner, just be sure to know its limits. I would advise any potential buyer to drive this vehicle under wet and slippery conditions before purchasing.
The interior has a cockpit design, but is otherwise simple and logical. The quality is moderate, but not as nice as most imports. I am PROUD to own the V6 Mustang, it's a much smarter buy than the GT. With the money you save in insurance cost and gas, you can modify the V6. But I must give respect when its due, if you want a MUSCLE car get the GT. You may go to GM for a Z28, Trans Am, or Corvette, but neither offer a better price or reliability.
