1988 Ford Mustang LX review from North America
"Cheap speed with a ton of available aftermarket parts"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Heater core at 50,000 miles.
Transmission synchro's worn at 69,000 (due to modified engine and a lot of racing and hard shifting).
General comments?
Car runs very strong, it is a very underrated car speed wise stock. I managed to run low 14's in the car with nothing more than a K&N airfilter. It's a little hard to hook up, especially on the street, you need just enough combo of gas and clutch play or you will light your tires up forever.
The 5.0L Ford Roller motor has a lot of potential and responds very well to modfications. It is also very durable. It has taken 30,000 hard miles from me without a problem. The weak link in the car is the T-5 tranny, it is suitable stock, but won't last forever if it is beaten on or raced or the motor modified.
