1989 Ford Orion LX review from UK and Ireland
"I should have worked for Ford Motorsport!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The head gasket exploded shortly after I bought the car so I decided to make it into a little project. I replaced the little 1.4 engine with a 2.0 t Cosworth engine as well as replacing the whole front end running gear.
The body work has held well with only minute rust at the wheel arches, but that will be sorted by a respray in a few months time.
General comments?
The car is now a rocket. Along with the engine transplant I have fitted strut brace forward and aft as well as ripping out the rear seats, welding the rear doors shut and sticking in a 16 point high tensile roll cage. (just to keep the car together).
My estimation now is that 0-60 is about 5.5 seconds and I've never dared to push it above 140mph, but it will do it. It is a Beast.
