1989 Ford Orion 1.6Ghia EFI review from UK and Ireland
"Decent and Reliable Car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Fuel pump packed up.
Put a new engine in after the other one became noisy and smoky.
Problem with the rear suspension made it steer from the rear, now fixed (bushes)
Iffy central locking.
Keeps bursting oil seals.
General comments?
This is a good car. My second Ford after a Blue 1987 Escort Ghia 1.6 Manual Hatchback 5 Door.
I've dropped a rebuilt xr2i engine in cos the old one was a bit tired.
Performance is very good for the size of engine/car. I've recently cracked 130mph on a straight. not enough low down grunt though.
The interior is a bit rattly now I have lowered it.
Seats are comfy.
Fuel computer is a welcome addition.
Crap on petrol (avg 20mpg)
Heavy steering.
It keeps popping oil seals down on the crankshaft for some reason.
It looks nice at red.
Overall, good car and I will keep it for a long time to come.
