In 75,000 miles the only problem was flaking paint.
Because of the shoddy reputation Pintos had, I wanted to comment on mine. I was very happy with it and it never let us down.
The motor with a 4-speed had excellent "grunt" from down low and ran well on the highway. Passing power was fine.
The transmission never gave us any trouble and always shifted smoothly.
We sold it and bought a Dodge Omni when they came out, but that is another report completely!
The refusal to buy another Ford stems not from this car, but a later '93 Taurus I reported on here in another section.

1970 Pinto, Jade green, put 100K miles on it and changed oil every 3K mis. Only thing that ever went out was the starter, 3 times.
Had Addco anti-sway bars I installed, 3 way adjustable shocks, seatback adjustments, 4 speed, header from HRE, 2 barrel weber and intake.
It was sweet and I went back and forth to college on $2.10 in gas 1 way!
