"2.0 16v Probe? B E A UTIFUL"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Head gasket went before I got the car.

Front driver side suspension spring broke.

General comments?

Gorgeous styling, which you can tell it was designed in the USA.

Despite being based on a Mazda MX6, Ford have made the styling quite unique.

Handles very well, although she doesn't like snow very much, as she slides all over.

The seats are extremely comfortable and supportive especially if you handle a corner quickly.

A bit too much torque steer though, if you corner hard and put more power through the front wheel drive.

I love this car, I will be sorry to see it leave, which will be soon.

I've recently developed a smoke screen at start up, which consumes my oil quickly.

Finding parts can be expensive, but I think it's worth it for the Probe.

I agree completely. I owned a 93 Probe. Only mine was a GT. I had the same problems however, broken suspension, hard to drive in snow, the typical used Probe problems. I fixed the suspension and also a little matter of buying new rotors and calipers for my rear breaks because the car had sat so long that they rusted. I bought it with 107,000 miles and it ran like a champ up until I had a little backroad incident. I reccomend a Probe for anyone looking for a gas-friendly vehicle with a little bit of fun, and if you are into speed and racing then the GT is the model for you. With quite a peppy little 2.5 litre 24V DOHC engine that produces nearly 170 horsepower, four wheel disc breaks, and a great suspension, you can do some amazing things. In my 5 speed GT I actually beat an early 90's Porsche on a back-road. I also had my car up to 130mph, with about 2 grand left to go on my tach. This was all stock, mind you. I have heard of people getting a stock Probe GT up to 140mph, but I was on a road, not a race-track, and didn't want to push it. In closing, the Probe is a great car.

Mazda mx6 despite having to shake of its related to probe comments it is superior in every way (to the ford) WHY DID MAZDA LET FORD MAKE A CHEAPER MX6?

The Mazda MX-6 had a four wheel steering, which made it handle better. But there is no arguing the case that Probe is the one turning heads on the street. In terms of acceleration, both cars were identical. Ford also has the largest boot I have seen. Can fit two mountain bikes easily plus the case of beer!
