Oxygen sensor went out. It was replaced by the dealer.
Distributor cap was replaced after it broke down.
Timing chain and tensioner were replaced.
Hatch won't stay up.
Now, sensors have to be replaced.
This car ran great and still does when it is having a good day.
It is a very fast car, when it wants to be.
I love the way it looks, but I am having so many problems mechanically.
It cuts out and sometimes shuts down completely when driving down the road.
When it does shut down, it has to sit a while before it will start again.
It also idles very high when you are both sitting still and driving.
I agree completely.
My hatch also doesn't stay up anymore in cold weather. Most interior parts are coming off including vents, plastic piece around the interior locking mechanism and radio buttons. I absolutely need to lube the doors and locks 2 to 3 times per year in order to keep my key from completely breaking off inside the lock in cold weather. My check engine light is constantly on and my car overheats all the time. Mechanics from all over the place have been unable to fix the CEL and overheating problem and I`ve been putting way too much money in it recently. After 167,000 kilometers, I've had some really good times with this car, but I've had more than enough.
It's a good car you just have to stay on top of it. The CEL's are more than likely caused by 02 sensors. To keep your hatches up guys go to NAPA and buy their rear hatch struts, they're the best on the market for the money. Any hatch has this problem. What can I say about the plastic bits and pieces, they're crap, but you have e-bay, junk yards, etc. out there. Plastic bits have broken on my Camry's before as well.
Personally I would say you need to replace the fuel pump. I had a car that would die all the time, Id always have to wait 10 min before it would go again, It was all because of a lousy fuel pump. Hey may not be that, but that's just my comments on the subj.
