2000 Ford Puma 1.7 LUX review from UK and Ireland
"A great value, great fun car!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing serious although one of the elements in the heated front screen has just gone and there are several rattles from the doors and dashboard.
General comments?
The car is great fun and a real scream down country roads. The handling is very safe and predictable and even slides are not difficult to catch.
The straight line performance is not as quick as some cars, but it more than makes up for it around the bends.
There are a couple of quirky design features that would not have taken too much effort to get right - the boot-lid spills water into the boot unless you part open it first and the headrests on the front seats get caught on the roof unless they are on their lowest setting (when they aren't really much use as head restraints).
The interior is quite spacious for a small coupe although I wouldn't want to travel in the back seats for more than a short journey, but then what do you expect from a coupe.
If you are going to get a Puma, get one with the LUX pack on it - the electric mirrors, CD player and heated front screen are well worth the extra money!
