I blew the motor. It was a 400ci which was very lacking in the performance area. I guess you're not supposed to take a 400 to 9000 rpm. haha ha.
I Replaced the 400 with a 460, had to do a lot of custom stuff, motor mounts, exhaust etc. Now it's a Champ. It owns the quarter mile at 13.6. The 460, obviously not stock (intake manifold, cam, rocker arms, carb, pulleys, electric fan, shift kit) is a beast and I suggest it to anyone who wants all out brute force and strength.
I have a 74 Ranchero-GT that I got new at age 21, my first truck. It has a 460 in it and I'm building the motor to a 517ci. in. It will burn the tires off.. when we get it done that is.
