1995 Ford Ranger XLT 2WD review from North America
"Great truck for most uses"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Before I purchased:
center armrest dangling from front seat.
After purchase
new tires (BF Goodrich)
89000 miles: shocks (truck mistreated)
95000 miles: camshaft sensor went bad
95000 miles: speed sensor wires went bad
100000 miles: valve cover gasket leak.
General comments?
This is a fantastic truck. Even though it feels a bit underpowered with the 3 liter during acceleration, there is only a slight difference when hauling 700 lbs+ in the back. I have not tried towing yet.
There is lots of room in the cab for 6'3 220+ driver, both headroom and legroom. The cab is fairly quiet with no rattles. Controls are easy to find. The seats are fairly comfortable for longer rides. Commuting 50 miles a day at 60-65mph I get 20mpg. The kids like the fold-out seats in the back of the extended cab. This is a great place to store tools too!
Parts likely to fail are fairly easy to get to (except for the water pump). Brake rotors: do not get the cheap ones, you will get the shakes.
