"Good truck. Crappy complications"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

My '95 V6 Ranger just dies unexpectedly, happened several times over two years. Mostly in stop / go traffic or pulling in to park. First two times, it started after sitting for a few hours, or overnight. Last two times, however, had to charge the battery then it starts up again and I drive several months till it happens again. Whatever is happening seems to cause the battery to drain down after the “death”. The battery is quite new and truck runs fine other than for this mystery thing.

This Friday pulling in to park, I noticed the clutch got tight, then the engine just died, and would not start. No cranking, no nothing. This time -at night, with all switches off we noticed interior dome and exterior rear cab top lights were ON. Had to leave her parked overnight, towed home next morning and charged the half discharged battery then she started up.

I’ve had the non stop door ding problem. Fixed that, and still have ghost wiper / washer turn on. Unsafe. Ford sucks for not recalling for this problem. Any comments please write spizzitola@gmail.com.Thanks.

General comments?

Fine engine. Good truck, but this mystery engine death thing is a real drag and may be a deal breaker. Very disapointed in my local Ford dealer in New Orleans for crappy / deceptive and price gouging service I've received. They will not see me again.

I have a 1995 V6 Ford Ranger with a manual transmission and I have had no problems whatsoever minus a few worn-out parts, which, considering its age, is completely normal. It's all in the way you take care of the car. I have seen many people with the same year model, but I have yet to see more than a couple in even relatively good condition. If you take care of your car, it will take care of you. Given, there are some drawbacks to every car, I doubt that the "ghost wiper" is a defect in the craftsmanship of the car, as for the battery, it could have been a connection problem, maybe battery acid or something other related problem. Before you go bashing the dealership and the car itself, you should check out the whole picture. As for saying that "Ford sucks for not recalling this problem," well just because one person has a problem does not give grounds for them to recall every single one. Not every car is the same, maybe your had a major defect but it is not the car or the dealership's fault. No need to be so misunderstanding towards it.
