1987 Ford Ranger reg cab short bed review from North America
"A great beater truck that's very reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I purchased it for 500 bucks with an engine and transmission with 114,000 miles on them from another 87 ranger just put in, it also had a new clutch and filters, since I have owned it I had the carburetor rebuilt, distributer rebuilt, a new starter put on, new ignition module, new plugs, new wires, new seats (hard to find in good condition), all new exhaust. I now need new shocks, a new clutch (again), new tires, and a good ol' tune up. There are probably a few things I forgot to mention.
General comments?
I am very happy with my truck, it looks good (solid black everywhere) it takes anything I throw at it, and I'm definitely not easy on it, the few complaints I have are, it's slower than dirt, and handles like a wet napkin also the cab is small and I'm 6'4 so it's kinda cramped, my next truck has to be extended cab with a bigger engine. My plans for the truck I currently have are to lower it's stance a little bit put a 302 in it with a new tranny and rear with stiffer suspension and a shift kit, but we'll see
right now it is reliable transportation and surprisingly fun.
