1999 Ford Ranger XLT review from North America
"A very tough reliable truck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Windshield wipers wouldn't shut off when I first bought the truck. Turned out to be a recall.
Recalled Firestone tires.
Started to lose antifreeze at 20000 miles. Turned out to be a bad radiator.
Clanking noise during acceleration. The dealer greased the spline in the transfer case and it solved the problem.
Had to replace a thermostat.
CV boot broke and caused CV joint to gould up. This happened due to lack of maintenance on my part.
General comments?
This truck is very tough. I have hauled many loads over 1/2 ton and the truck handled them beautifully.
Rides very smooth.
The acceleration is not bad. It will pick up and go when you need it to.
The Gas mileage is rough. Especially when you are a poor college student.
Very dependable and reliable.
4WD works great. The automatic hubs don't always unlock though.
