1999 Ford Ranger XL review from North America
"A super deal for a super truck!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Other than basic maintenance and expected ware there has been no need to bring this truck into the shop.
General comments?
This is a great truck, the styling is great and the control panel has large buttons and is easly configured.
I have a 5-spd manuel and it shifts smoothly and without fault.
The shift on the fly 4X4 is smooth and consistant.
The low gears are necessary on hills as the power is not sufficient in a high gear to excelerate up steep hills. I was surprised however in the Rangers ability to power up small hills in fourth gear without problem.
The extended cab is roomy and the seats are comfortable, though I don't ride in the jump seats much!
I love this tuck, it does everything I ask it to do and more, I've read reports of othes having lots of problems, perhaps they did not check the history of the used truck that they bought because Ford has made reliable truks for others in my family and I definitly have no complaints.
