At 13,000 miles I had rear end, U-joint, and driveshaft trouble.
The dealer added liquid metal to the rear end, replaced rear U-joints, and replaced driveshaft with an aluminum driveshaft.
At 27,000 miles, the timing chain, tensioner, and guides had to be replaced.
With the exception of transfer case and transmission, the rest of the power train had already been repaired at only 27,000 miles.
4.0 6 cylinder had good acceleration.
Gas mileage was 12 miles per gallon city, and 15 highway. Poor mileage for a 6 cylinder.
Transmission always delayed in shifting
up and down.
At 10.000 miles I had to replace both rotors,1 ball joint and have the back drums turned. At 18.000 mile I had to replace the same ball joint,1 rotor and complete back brake job. at 36.000 miles I had to replace the back brakes again, plus a serpentine belt. Now I'm at 48.000 miles and I have to bring it in for another ball joint and have the brakes check again. I purchased this truck with a $5000. voucher from the COMPANY because I had too many recalls on my sable. Toyota is looking pretty good right now.
