1988 Ford Ranger LX review from North America
"Great for the price purchased"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Had to replace the head, transmission, clutch, timing belt (twice), muffler with tailpipe, cracked manifold, fuel relay switch (3 times), fuel pump, the paint on the hood, top of the cab, and along the top of the bed faded away.
Also the mirrors kept flopping down when the vehicle went over 55. The Ford letters fell off one by one.
General comments?
I bought this truck from a friend for 500.00. It served me well for the time I had it, but I fixed it often to keep it running.
It is a tough little bugger because I drove it for over 80,000 miles within a 8 month period. But I must say that it had a few aggravating defects.
The fuel relay switch that is under the hood had to be replaced often.
The paint faded away on some parts and the mirrors were not strong enough to withstand the wind.
I was left stranded plenty of times. But I do have to say, when I really needed it, it was faithful.
