1987 Ford Scorpio GL review from Finland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The usual wear and tear items:
New discs and pads.
Shocks replaced and rear springs.
2 batteries.
Water-pump.
Cam-belts.
Did need a new data-box, that was costly but suspect the dealer ripped me off (same old story!) Had to take his word that I needed it after erratic running.
General comments?
Just about to celebrate its 12th birthday and it's been a loyal and very comfortable car. Bought cheaply six years ago, has covered 112k miles/170k kms, never broken down on me, goes all over Europe.
Cheap to run for such a vast car, exhausts are long lived, original clutch. Only downside is a pathetic heater, no joke here. Will have to retire it in the spring but it's been excellent, still a comfortable albeit sedate drive on a long distance. Probably have a Focus or 626 as +a replacement. Highly recommended.
