1991 Ford Scorpio GL review from Netherlands
"Great car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At 200000 km I changed the diff (couldn`t bear the whining anymore)
TCA bushes went, replaced with PU bushes.
Pressure regulator from master brake cylinder replaced.
Aircon condenser broke, so no aircon anymore...
Wheel arches rusted through, so replaced the panels.
And of course the normal wear and tear items: battery (original battery lasted 8 years!), brake pads, oil, plugs.
General comments?
Great car, too bad Ford doesn`t make any RWD cars anymore in Europe.
Car is 100% reliable, has never let me down in 8 years.
Still on original clutch, with mostly city driving!
Catalytic convertor removed and RamAir airfilter fitted.
Als fitted the interior and brakes from a 91 Cosworth, very comfy leather seats with heating.
No electrical problems, everything works OK.
Car is quite quick, but road handling is not so great.
Fuel economy is not too bad, about 8 km a litre in the city, about 10 km a ltre on the highway.
Funny though, the speed doesn`t matter a lot.
Top speed is about 230 km/h.
Car still runs great, uses almost no oil.
