1993 Ford Sierra 1.8 LX 5dr review from UK and Ireland
"Slower than a milk float-but really enjoyable to drive"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Intermittent passenger elec window.
General comments?
What a good old barge this thing was.
It was bought as a 3rd car, but ended up being used quite a lot.
I think these things now have quite a cool retro look (I must be mad!), in a sort of 80s kind of way, and surprisingly the ergonomics are as good as many modern cars.
While this 1.8 had no go whatsover (only 90hp), it turned me into the most relaxed driver in the world, with it's low set driving position, mega long gearthrow, and wibbly wobbly handling. The engine strangely felt like it had more go in 5th at 70 than in 2nd at 30!
It was utterly reliable (although we only had it a few months before selling it), and I really enjoyed driving it, although when they were new I always thought Sierras were crap!
Long live the last rear drive Ford in its class.
