1989 Ford Sierra XR4x4 review from UK and Ireland
"One of the best performance cars you can buy for the money"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Both outer CV boots had to be replaced at around 120,000 miles.
And an oil seal needed renewing in the front diff, which meant the whole front assembly had to be removed!!
A new steering rack was required at around 140,000 miles.
And finally, the sills on both sides needed welding.
General comments?
It's one of the best handling cars I've ever driven. And with the traction it's got, you don't worry what the weather is doing when you've got one of these!
It's a lovely smooth drive. Once you're out on the open road, it pulls well from even below 2,000rpm with the torque it's got!! The 2.9 is has noticeably more torque than the 2.8.
