Back in the 1980's,"affordable"performance cars had character, and stood out from the crowd. Todays "affordable" Performance cars are bland, lacking character, and have umpteen computers to take the real fun out of driving, which is one of the reasons we buy these cars in the first place! Just look at the new Impreza or EVO, I would prefer to be seen driving an Austin Allegro!

Factory Sierra Cosworth 4wd 224bhp, factory Scooby 4wd 215bhp

Scooby 143mph, Cossie 155mph, Scooby 1400kg, Cossie 1250kg.

Scooby 0-60 5.5 seconds, Cossie 5.1 seconds.

I've tested them, the Cossie is obviously quicker.

Only the bug eye Scooby had 215 bhp, and the 0-60 for the Cossie was nowhere near 5.1, more like 6.5.

I've been a mechanic for 14 years and I know my stuff. The Cosworth can do that. It's always been faster. When have you ever seen or heard a Scooby over 600bhp. I have a Sierra Cossie at 700bhp.

I'm puzzled. One says 0.60 time of a Cossie is 5.1 seconds, wrong, 0.60 6.6 seconds, wrong.

I've looked all over google and most websites say the 0.60 time for the Cossie is 5.7 seconds and 155mph, and 5.9 for the Scooby at 149 mph.

You're not far from the truth. The Cossie only just beats the Scooby. Anywats I have a car that can beat both of them, a Lotus Carlton which does 0.60 in 5.1 seconds at 315bhp.

For the guy on the 3rd of March, the most powerful Scooby I've seen had over 1000 bhp, still with a 2.5 ltr engine, it was a drag weapon. And there are plenty more 600, 700 bhp ones out there.

True the Scooby can reach that power, but I've heard that Cossies are currently at 1300bhp, which is more than a Bugatti Veyron, which is the fastest car in the world.

Yeah but come on, the Veyron makes about 120 bhp per ltr as standard, which is good, but if it were tuned to 240 bhp per ltr like some cars EVO/scooby/cossie, it would make over 2000 bhp. You could probably get 3000 bhp out of that car if you could find a gearbox to take it LOL.

The Veyrons gearbox could take that power, but there's no point tuning that car as it is one of the quickest cars ever.

For 31st Jul 2006 you could get standard Cossies at 345bhp. The mk3 Escort RS 1700t had a DHOC 16v turbo esc/sierra cossie engine at 350 bhp, but it wasn't for the road as Ford sold less of them than the RS500.

Anyways, the Sierra was faster as Ford reduced the power, as the first 10 Cosworths had 250hp, then the RS 500 had 227bhp, then the 3dr had 204hp, then the 4wd had 224.

Scoobys are rubbish. I've had one (tuned), but now I have a factory RS500 and it can pull away faster than my old K reg Scooby. They're just rubbish compared to an RS500.

If you had a K reg WRX, it must have been the JDM car, they come with 260 bhp and are about the same weight as the old 204 bhp Sierra, so even standard it would be quicker, yours was probably faulty.

I'm talking about a, RS500, which has 250hp and is lighter than a Saxo VTR.

An RS 500 at 204hp, don't make me laugh, Ford claimed 250hp and 0-60 5.9 in seconds, but it and the Sapphire were tested and the results were 5.6 sec for the RS 500, and 5.8 for the Sapphire.
