Lighter than a saxo VTR? How heavy do you think a VTR is?
A Saxo is 990kg, my RS500 was 962kg at 250bhp factory. Very fast.
When I got my Scooby, it was factory, a 208 hp sti,
then I tuned it to 284hp and it weighs 1350kg, and also I had nothing wrong with it. It had an engine rebuild 5 years ago and was only used as a summer car.
Rs500 weighs 1207kg. Check out this web site that shows all the spec of the car

Standard figures for the Ford Sierra 500 are a kerb weight of just over 1200kg and for a Saxo VTR 920kg or a VTS is slightly more at 965kg. A Google search or look in the owners manuals confirms this.
208 STI? No that would be the turbo 2000. STI's have 265-300 bhp, depending on year.
It's an STi 208hp 1992, and my RS500 was 920kg with 250hp. factory

Already been stated the RS500 is 1207kg!!! Unless your car went on a very strict diet it did not come out the factory weighing less than a ton.
There has never been a 208 bhp STI, you are wrong.
You are definitely wrong on both counts. Just Google it instead of reiterating what you already said. More than one site says the RS500 has a kerb weight of over 1200kg, and I cannot find any that give the same figure as you suggest.

I meant 962kg and there was an STi at 208 hp. I know my cars, I've been a mechanic for 12 years.
By the way I'm talking about an mk1 Scooby STi.
Well I can't be sure about the Sierra, except to say that even the old Cortina's were heavier than that, so it's hard to see how a Sierra could be lighter, much lighter! But I do know my Subaru's, I've owned them for 5 years and the mk1 STI (1993) had 276 bhp, mk1 WRX had 240 bhp, then 260 post 1995, these being the JDM cars. We only had the turbo 2000 in Britain at this time, which had 208 bhp.

Cossies in there day were faster than Imprezas, but they have moved on. Cossies are still not far behind, but like I said they have moved on.
But once again Ford strikes back; a 310hp
Focus RS twin turbo, nice, and also Ford are planning to make a more powerful Ford, a Mondeo Cosworth. Go and check google for this.
An STi at 208 hp, don't make me laugh, an average STi mk1 has about 225hp, the same as an Escort Cossie. In my opinion I'd rather have an Sapphire Cossie; just as fast for a lot less.
I love it I love it! Keep the comments coming.
I have a 300zx manual twin turbo and it is crap! Rear wheel drive nightmare, snakes all the time, too big and too heavy (I fell for it because of its classic look and nice interior) but I still take 260bhp Scoobys at the lights (but only just) but by 3rd gear I'm gapping them like no mans business... besides Scoobys are dog ugly.
I'd have a Saf Cossie again any day if I could.
Each to there own, and what ever floats your boat, you'll all never conclude which is the best because you all have different preferences and view things from your own perspective as to what you think makes a good car.
That's my 2 pence worth.
Personally I lurve the Cossie even more now then when I was a teenager, coz now it's got another feather in its hat (or whatever the saying is!) as it is also retro and rare now.
Cosworth was ground breaking when it came out 15-20 years ago, Scoobys and Evos haven't moved on all that much in all that time, fullstop! :)
Scoobies and Evo's haven't moved on? What planet have you been on the last 15 years? Every time they test the new ones on top gear they just keep getting faster round their track. I'd love to see what time a Sapphire Cossie would post round their track now against a new-ish Scooby or Evo, it would be left in their wake.
