1999 Ford Taurus LS review from North America
"Poorly designed, poor reliabity - junk"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Oxygen sensor failed and had to be replaced.
Electric door locks failed shortly after buying the car. Too expensive to fix, and so lived with the problem for years.
Power steering pump was failing - made terrible whining noise.
Heater failed to blow warm air. I'm told this is a common problem with these Taurus'. You would think after a 100 years, Ford would know how to design a car heater!
Valve spring broke on the interstate. Too expensive to repair and so traded the car in.
General comments?
After having owned a 1995 Windstar and having nothing, but problems (2 head gaskets, oxygen sensors, new engine, new transmission), I thought I would give Ford another chance and so bought a 3 year old 1999 taurus. What a freaking nightmare. You would think after 100 years, Ford would know how to design a car heater, or electric door locks, or a power steering system. Never again will I buy a Ford - and that really disapoints me. My Father always owned Fords, but never again for me or my family.
