1994 Ford Taurus GL review from North America
"Excellent"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced the cooling system, and a couple alternators.
Rebuilt the starter.
A couple of serpentines.
A couple of sway bar links.
Change the tranny fluid every 45k and the car will love you.
This requires some work. Rebuilding the starter is easy for the backyard mechanic. All you do is replace the brushes.
General comments?
270K miles. The Vulcan V-6 is the best. Cast iron, pushrod, hydraulic lifters, central cam, simple.
The electrical system did its job well.
The car holds the road very well.
Don't slam on the gas pedal and the transmission will last a long time. The transmission is the achilles heel of this car. Look for the 3.0L V-6, avoid the 3.8L.
