I purchase my 1991 Ford Taurus SHO in 1997 with 75,000 miles on it. The previous owner garaged and serviced it regularly.
I still own the car and have replaced the clutch three times. In recent years I have not been so hard on it and the last clutch has lasted 4 years. Overall, I have enjoyed this car more than any other car I have own in 40 years. I purchase the car for $ 6 grand cash and put almost 6 grand into it over the 9 years I have owned it. Now, you do the math. No payments for 9 years and I drove a car that was both fast and comfortable with all the options that new cars come with today.
I still enjoy getting out in this car with the awesome performance this car delievers.
The car is in very good shape with minor exterior defects, but the interior is in nice shape. No rust because the car stayed in WA state.
A dream of mine would be to some day restore this car to excellent condition, but I am ready to let it go to someone else. Upgrade stereo system and alarm system are only two things not stock..$ 2,000.00 OBO rede2use2007@gmail.com.
Just picked up a 91 SHO for free. Actually, I have to paint the guys truck for him. (No Biggy) Anyway I had to transport the car to one of my garages to store it until I have time to fix er all up and on the way I hit a long straight away. I was cruisin at 60 in 5th gear. I forgot to mention that the car has a bad miss and needs a tune-up real bad. Anyway I hit this straight away and said to myself, let's see what this thing can do. So I down shifted to 3rd gear and put it to the floor and holy crap. This thing jumped up and launched. I revved it up to about 5600 in third and I was probably doing close to a buck twenty when I power shifted fourth and man I buried the needle at 140 like it was nothin. This thing flies. It went from 60 to 120 in a matter of seconds. this baby's a keeper. I restore cars for a living and this car is totally worthy of a full resto which will be underway shortly. Anyone wondering about the Taurus SHO should know that these cars are awesome. I can't wait to get it all done so I can hit the streets looking for prey. It's gotta suck to get stomped by a four door Ford Taurus. Man o man I can't wait. I might even throw a 125 shot of nitrous on it after the engine is all done just for giggles. (no pun intended.."lol") Although the car definately does not need nitrous, I just think it will be "INSANE". Good Job Ford. You done good, real good. "E"
