1995 Ford Taurus GL review from North America
"Good family car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The Taurus runs well except when heavily loaded and driving at highway speeds.
I've had two major breakdowns: (1) once on my way to a vacation, about a 700 mile trip when car was loaded with vacation stuff and (2) on my way home from college when my car was loaded with all of my belongings (no large furniture just a TV, computer, clothes, books, etc...).
In both instances the car just simply loses power and the engine stops running. I've taken it to a dealer and they always explain that I need to have the spark plugs replaced?
Other than this heavy weight, high speed issue, I've had no problems with the car.
General comments?
The Taurus has good pick-up on the highway, but could benefit from more power when just cruising around town. It feels a bit sluggish at times, I think Ford should have given it a little more horsepower.
