What things have gone wrong with the car?
Original Suspension, currently replacing all struts and springs, bushings, sway bar links.
Leaking draincock on radiator, cured w/Teflon tape.
Badly out of alignment, got it done too.
Cheap noisy tires in rear, replaced.
Very paranoid factory alarm. Even putting in the right keyless entry code sets it off. May be an alarm-ectomy in the future.
General comments?
Roomy cabin, comfortable seats, most of the optional goodies and all power except the seats. Huge trunk. Tight engine compartment with the sideways engine and transaxle.
Handling will be so-so until the suspension work is done. Not a "quick" car anyway, but I have the T-Bird for that. 3.0 V6 has timing chain, cast-iron block and heads, not powerful, but it is a sturdy design. Easy to get parts for.
Boxy design, not the sleekest of cars.
Bought for commuting to work, since my 87 Sport T-Bird is getting old and is too dear to me to have someone destroy it in an accident. The 95 Taurus is an ideal expendable car since they are (1) cheap, and (2) extremely safe with airbags and proper three-point seatbelts.
