1993 Ford Taurus GL review from North America
"A hauntingly bad product"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Both head gaskets at different times,
alternator, starter, thermostat, radiator, brakes twice while under warranty, power steering pump Seats have become very worn and uncomfortable, air bag light comes on and goes off frequently, both fuel-oxygen sensors need replacing. Water pump is most recent failure and requires raising the engine to remove and install.
Serpentine belt.
General comments?
When it was new I would bet my bottom dollar that I had accidentally bought a police unit. Very fast, good acceleration, good handling. Soon after that the trouble began. To date I have spent well over $4000 on repairs. A more damning fact is that I have received at least 15 recall notices on it. My standard joke is that I take it in every five recalls to do them all at once. It gets laughs, but its not really funny. If this review stops one person from buying one of these money pits it might take some of the sting out of my experience.
As for me, the only Ford product I would buy now would be a mid sixties Mustang.
