1988 Ford Taurus LX review from North America
"Its OK if you haul alot of kids or take alot of trips"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The starter went out right after we bought it. We've had to replace it twice since then.
The thermostat stuck closed and blew the upper radiator hose and the radiator itself.
The heater core went out and took all day to replace because you have to tear the whole dashboard apart to get to it. While fixing that I blew up the A/C so now I have to fix that.
Got the key stuck in the ignition on the side of the road with my pregnant girlfriend in the car.
The interior of the car is falling apart (great pleather upholstery).
I spent 4 months trying to fix the heater controls (I have finally given up on the awful buzzing sound) tore the dash out numerous times.
General comments?
It's a great road trip car, but around town it gets awful gas mileage (it averages about 14 mpg).
Although the interior is falling apart the seats are still very comfortable.
It also makes a very good car if you have to transport a lot of kids.
