1993 Ford Taurus LX review from North America
"Unreliable, yet fast/comfy"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
-Starter $225
-Radiator, serpentine belt $400
-Water pump, tensioner $450
-Heater hoses replaced $125
-Drums/Rotors/brake elements, f/b (twice) $600 total
-Accelerator cable snapped $175
-Muffler $100
-Door strip jammed in door $50
-Tie Rods $120.
General comments?
I was lucky in that my Taurus didn't really have any engine problems or tranny problems that needed fixing. However, I constantly was smelling coolant and seeing that familar green leak. Some of this stuff is maintance I guess, however I feel its all connected to the famous Taurus line. I've driven a Camry and currently a Mitsubishi Mirage and unlike this car, problems are drivable, unlike having your cars blood (coolant) leaking out, the car not starting or accelerating, or the door not opening because of a jam. It disables itself when its pissed off. I do NOT recomment this car to anyone, unless you make a nice income, because it's a wonderful, safe, comfy car, but its so often sickly.
