1995 Ford Taurus LX review from North America
"I like the car and feel Ford tries to make a reliable automobile"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When new, noise in engine at 300 miles. Repeated trips to dealer. FINAL action - replaced rocker arms in engine.
Speedometer problems at about 19000 miles, replaced head. Same problem at 38000, replaced head, same problem at 54000, replaced head, having the same problem again at present milage?? Not sure what dealer will do about it.
AC went out at 59000. Bad hose, $400 charge.
1994 & 95 3.8L engine has a possible head gasket problem. Ford has extended ENGINE warranty to 100,000 miles or 7yrs.
If a problem is found Ford will fix or offer $4,000 off on the best deal for a new Ford.
General comments?
I like the car but tried to get Ford to replace it when I was having engine problems when it was new. No luck. I had it in the shop 6 or 8 times at that time and most of the mileage I had on it was taking it to the shop for the first 5 or 6 weeks. I kept a detailed record of what was happening and submitted it to Ford. No answer.
