1997 Ford Taurus GL review from North America
"Very practical safe car with a low cost per kilometer to maintain"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Front rotors replaced twice.
Rear rotors replaced once.
Inside passenger side door panel loose.
Interior lights malfunctioned. Unable to repair.
Poor tire wear.
Cracked exhaust y pipe.
General comments?
This is our second Taurus and I would consider buying a 3rd.
Car has been regularly maintained (as recommended in the service manual) with oil changes at 5000 kilometers and regular transmission services completed. We were told this is an important component of long term car ownership and I believe the regular maintenance (touch wood) has paid off.
The car is comfortable and the safety features work very well as I totaled our 96 Taurus by hitting a loaded gravel truck (at 70km per hour) that went through a stop sign and walking away from the accident with a very minor bruising.
