Nothing Major until after 100,000 miles.
At 101,000 Second set of tires third set of brakes.
At 105,000 transmission started to slip between second and third.
At 110,000 dash started to rattle constant due to odd tread wear pattern.
At 125,000 another set of tires corrected the rattle for good.
At 150,000 brakes failed twice causing a accident once the second ran into a tree to avoid head on with semi.
Burns oil constantly all fluids like to leak at good rate.
Quite slow off the line.
Never good gas mileage got around 19 mpg about as good as my Grandpas Truck.
Very unreliable.
Anti-Lock Brakes never worked very good.
When I hit the tree there had been a work crew fixing the bridge ahead causing me to have to stop and wait for on coming traffic that's why I swerved off the road when I did the air bags deployed after I had come to a dead stop causing severe neck injury.
I will never buy another Ford product again as long as I am alive.
My Mother had a minor accident in her Taurus. The air bags deployed causing serious neck, facial and other injuries. I would be interested in hearing from others with the same type of accident and injuries. email Kris Hall frchat@aol.com.
AMEN! AMEN! and AMEN! is all I can say to the original comments that were made on this vehicle. It seems that 100k is the magical boundary when the car prepares to go toes up to the sky.
At 100k the "Check Oil" light came on and stayed on. Problem was the main bearing on the engine was about to go. Solution: a new engine.
At 100k the fluid parade began. Oil dripping from the oil pan, transmission fluid from the transmission filter pan, power steering fluid from the power steering pump. At this juncture I am still fighting leaks from the transmission and the oil.
At 120k tranmission went out. Ford Dealership installed new one, incorrectly. The work was not warranted. After 5k miles the transmission was leaking all over the place. Independent shop had to install yet another transmission.
At 125k the remote keyfob stopped working. Solution: make due without it.
Other notables: 3 alternators, 1 radiator, 1 power steering pump, 1 serpentine belt pulley, 1 power antenna.
Dash lights out in various places like the A/C knob.
Let me echo the first commenter - DO NOT BUY FORD PRODUCTS!
I had a Ford Taurus, and it did have a few problems. My dash shook at a certain speed, my air quit working, my wires had shorts in them, and my car over heated, even after I got a new thermostat. I ran a wire from the fan to a switch, and it quit over heating. Over all my car was a good car, even though it had been wrecked and fixed before I got it. It only had 88,000 miles, until I wrecked it in Dec of 06. I was hit head on (mostly on the passenger side) my air bags deployed immediately, saving me and my friend from going through the windshield. I am thankful that this car held up, even after its previous wrecks. This car got totaled, and was beyond repair this time, so I couldnt fix it. It broke my front axle, and smashed my passenger doors, and now they barely open, and when they do open the fall off. I am surprised with how the car turned out though, because by the looks of it, you would have thought that me and my friend would have died instantly. We both got out with some scratches, and a few minor air bag burns, but no broken bones or anything. This car may have some mechanical problems, but it is a safe car to have a wreck in, it is really built safe. I would recommend in having another one, especially after how my wreck turned out.
That's what I thought, you guys can't ever write back, U guys need to learn your cars, and take care of them, otherwise yeah they willbe a piece of crap, a junk out on you. Remember it is NOT the car that sucks, it is the person driving it that makes it suck. Get a grip.
